Many would consider Twinsburg as a diverse community, and the numbers back up that claim.

Twinsburg has 18,795 people, according to the Census. While 14,749 people, or about 78 percent, describe themselves as white, the city does have a growing population of those who identify themselves as Asians and blacks.

Asians and black populations comprise nearly 20 percent of the city's population.

2. Minority populations are younger

Twinsburg's largest and fastest growing minorities are blacks and Asians. It's not surprising then that those populations have the highest percentage of young people, especially the black population.

Blacks between the ages 10-19 make up 20 percent of the population. While the largest population for Asians was ages 30-34 with 12 percent, the Asian population is seeing a growing number of children, with the under 14 population at nearly 20 percent.

3. Asians have largest, most stable families; whites have smallest families

The average family size in Twinsburg is just over three, meaning the typical family structure in Twinsburg is a husband, wife and one kid.

But the Census data shows that Twinsburg's Asian population has not only the largest families, but the most stable also, meaning the family is led by a married couple living together.

Nearly 84 percent of Asian families have husbands and wives living together, and the average family size is more than 3.6, the largest in Twinsburg.

Black families have the lowest stability rate, with about 50 percent of families with a husband and a wife living together.

White families are the smallest at 3.05 people per family.

4. Whites have highest home ownership rate; blacks have lowest

If you live in Twinsburg, chances are you own your home. But homeownership rates vary based on race.

About 80 percent of white households own their own home, or 4,913 out of 6,127 households. Asian households were close behind, percentage-wise, with 248 of 318 households owning their own home, or about 78 percent.

Black and hispanic households were the least likely to own their own homes, but homeownership rates are still pretty high, but still lower than the national average of about 65 percent.

About 57 percent of black households live in a home they own, while the hispanic rate is about 63 percent.

5. Hispanics are still a small group in Twinsburg

While hispanics represent a fast-growing minority across the nation, the number of people who describe themselves as hispanic in Twinsburg remains small.

There are only 227 people in Twinsburg who label themselves hispanic, and there are only 54 households that contain hispanic people.
