Changes Coming to Council Agenda, Postings

If you're at all familiar with the agendas for Twinsburg City Council meetings, the format you've come to know may be changing again.

On Tuesday council and the mayor discussed adding a new section to the agenda for the council caucus meeting at 7 p.m.

By adding "Items for Discussion" to the format it allows council to familiarize itself with legislation and issues that are coming down the pipe, not getting surprised by new requests the night of.

"We would have little time to discuss legislation or would have to send things back to committees and boards,” Council President Ted Yates said about some requests to council.

Law Director Dave Maistors said city council has the ability to adjust council rules in this situation.

“I think if we’re going to change a policy procedure we should at least put it in the rules,” At-Large Councilman Bill Furey said.

“There’s been a constant change to this process over the years,” Mayor Katherine Procop said.

Procop added that occasions may arise where it will be necessary for an issue to go before council and have its first reading in one night if waiting the appointed two weeks will miss deadlines.

“It’s going to be a work in process,” Yates said.

Change in posting

Not only could the agenda itself be different, there could be changes in where it, along with pending legislation, gets posted.

Over the next few weeks council will decide whether or not to remove several physical locations, while adding the city's website to the list.

If the ordinance is passed, legislation will no longer be posted at the , or at .

“It’s overdue,” Furey said.
