City, Developer Reach Settlement Over Corbett's Farm

The legal battle over the 86-acre property has ended after six years.

The legal battle over Corbett's Farm between the city and MRSK has ended, with both sides reaching an agreement.

At the Tuesday, Aug. 27 city council meeting, Law Director David Maistros presented legislation that would officially end the six year court battle with the Beachwood-based developer. It was approved 7-0.

The settlement will mean about 95 homes on the 86-acre property, about 1.2 homes per acre, according to the Twinsburg Bulletin, instead of the 3.5 homes per acre MRSK wanted.

The developer can now begin its final site plan for the property at the corner of Darrow Road and Glenwood Drive.

"We're thrilled to be able to end this, there's no money exchanging hands from the city to anybody," Maistros told the Twinsburg Bulletin. "We're simply ending the litigation and approving a site plan, which has been presented to planning commission and has been favorably recommended."

MRSK purchased the property in 2007 for $3.4 million.

The buildings on the farm were demolished in September 2012.
