City to Charge Twins Days a Flat Fee for Services

Twinsburg will charge the festival $20K per year through 2014

Less than a month before the Twins Days Festival kicks off a deal was reached on how much it will pay the city for services.

Twinsburg approved setting a flat fee of $20,000 starting this year and lasting through 2014.

The city audits the services it provides, for purposes of streamlining and a flat fee makes it easier to budget. By setting a fee, the festival can easily budget a number and know what to expect each year, as well.

“We’ve been going back and forth with what services and products we provide and how much to charge," At-Large Councilman Gary Sorace said. "I think this was a fair agreement without going back and forth.”

A bulk of the cost consists of paying overtime for city workers who set up signs and banners and transport certain equipment, as well as firefighters for first aid. Twins Days pays the police department seperately for security during the festival.

While never exact, an average cost to the city was around $18,000 each year, topping out at $21,000 a few times.

“It’s probably a good method for all of us,” Mayor Katherine Procop said.

The 2012 Twins Days Festival is from Friday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 5. This year's theme is "Twin Power," a super-heroes theme.
