Council Approves Tax Incentive to Bring in Lianda Corporation

The move to Twinsburg would bring a $1.2 million payroll

Twinsburg City Council unanimously approved a tax incentive Tuesday night that will bring the Lianda Corporation, currently in Hudson, to the city.

Lianda imports PVC and other plastic and polymer materials, primarily from China, with a significant share in the U.S. market.

The company approached the city in hopes of moving into a 8285 Darrow Rd. facility if an incentive was available. “The will be moving and expanding their entire operation at that location,” Larry Finch, city planning director, said. “That includes their national sales headquarters, a lab to do testing and material quality control, and also distribution out of that same facility.”

The company hopes to move from it's office only facility in Hudson to build a main office and warehouse, with a total planned investment of $2.5 million. The incentive from the city would provide a grant amount equal to 33 percent of income taxes payed by employees to be moved to the Twinsburg location.

The company would immediately employ 12 full-time jobs and a $975,000 payroll to Twinsburg, planning to  create four new jobs with $300,000 payroll, according to its application to the city.

“I would expect it to be an even stronger growth, in terms of employment, than that,” Finch said.

Because both Hudson and Twinsburg participate in the Summit County Job Preservation Agreement, they will share 40 percent of the income tax the first year, 30 percent the second year, and 20 percent the third year, unless Lianda’s former location is filled by a new business.

“We’re very excited about getting this company into the city of Twinsburg,” Mayor Katherine Procop said.
