Council Will Look at Lease of Liberty Park

Twinsburg City Council will discuss an intergovernmental agreement with Metro Parks over the 42-acre Ravenna Road project at Liberty Park

City Council will discuss tonight the possibility of an intergovernmental agreement between the city and Metro Parks Serving Summit County concerning Liberty Park.

The agreement would lease 42 acres of Liberty Park between Ravenna Road and I-480 along the Tinkers Creek corridor.

City Engineer Amy Mohr said they already have an agreement in place with Metro Parks with other parts of Liberty Park and it has worked out pretty well.

“They’ve done a great deal of expanding and protecting that area,” Mohr said.

By leasing the land, Metro Parks would have its rangers patrol the area as well as provide improvements and ecological studies that would help conserve the property.

“There is a benefit for us in this agreement,” Mohr said.

Council will hear the ordinance tonight, but action will not be taken.

Mohr said if the agreement does go through, residents won’t notice much of a change in the park or its service.
