Final Chrysler Redevelopment Plans Approved as Demolition Begins

Both a conditional use permit for building height and final site plans were approved by the Twinsburg Planning Commission Monday night

Twinsburg Planning Commission unanimously approved both the conditional use permit and final site plan approval needed to begin the redevelopment of the former Chrysler stamping plant Monday night.

Planning commission approved a conditional use permit for the site off of Chamberlin Road allowing building heights to be amended from 35 feet to the planned 41 feet for the new facility. City council still needs to give its approval, likely next week.

The commission also gave the final nod to the site plan, provided the developers get official approval from the city for lighting plans and fire hydrants.

The representative for the developer, Mark Weber, said those loose ends are being tied up with the fire chief and city engineer.

“I did have conversation with Amy (Mohr) prior to this meeting this afternoon and we have things we know we can work out,” Weber said.

Driving down Chamberlin Road it is apparent the demolition for the site is already under way, getting approval for demolition from the architecture review board on Thursday.

Last week Performance Food Group-Vistar Ohio announced it would be the tenant of the first phase in the Chrysler redevelopment, moving from its current Dutton Drive home. Vistar will occupy one portion of the Chrysler site that will be parceled out into about seven pieces. The project is planned to be complete by September 2012, at a total cost of $9.3 million.
