Mayor Procop to Address Twinsburg With State of the City Thursday

Mayor will speak on benefits from stimulus and how the city reduced its budget among other topics

Mayor Katherine Procop will address the city, specifically businesses, when she gives the annual State of the City address on Thursday.

The event, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, will be held at the on Wilcox Drive at 11:30 a.m.

Procop said she will discuss what the city has done in 2010, highlighting various events and important decisions with her annual address.

“The theme of this year’s address is ‘Where Preparation Meets Opportunity,’” Procop said. “I am going to focus on the benefit the city achieved through stimulus funding, and how it afforded us the opportunity to complete infrastructure projects and green initiative projects.”

She said she will also discuss in what areas the city reduced its budget and how it saved money over the last year as well as department highlights from 2010.

“It’s important for our businesses to have the opportunity to see what we’re accomplishing in the city of Twinsburg,” Procop said. “Obviously, they have a vested interest in the community.”

Procop also said the city should be open with its business owners and residents about the issues important to them.

“I believe it’s a responsibility on the part of the city administration to communicate any information that will affect their business, whether positive or negative,” Procop said.

The mayor will also host a similar address Wednesday, March 9, more directed toward residents who may have been unable to attend Thursday’s event.

To attend Thursday’s address  you can contact the Chamber of Commerce for reservations.
