Yates Becomes New Council President, Committees Selected

Ward 3 Councilman Ted Yates was elected president and Ward 5 Councilman Seth Rodin is vice president

After a tough Ward 3 council race in November, not only did Ted Yates keep his seat, he was elected president of Twinsburg City Council.

Yates was elected council president and Ward 5 Councilman Seth Rodin was elected to the vice president seat at Tuesday night's meeting.

As his first order of business, new Council President Yates named the new list of committees that each member would serve on. He will look after the Finance Committee, Public Works Committee, Fitness Advisory Board, and Chamber of Commerce Committee.

Rodin will be part of the Environmental Commission, Safety Committee, and Volunteer Fireman.

At-Large Councilman Bill Furey, who was sworn in last night, will serve on Capital Improvement Board, Treasury Investment Board, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Golf Advisory Board.

Ward 4 Councilwoman Maureen Stauffer will oversee Public Works Committee, Safety Committee, and Community Relations Board.

Former Council President Gary Sorace will take part in the Twins Day Committee, Finance Committee, Charter Review Oversight Committee, and Community Relations Board.

Ward 2 Councilman Bob McDermott, who also was sworn in, will remain on Planning Commission, Architecture Review Board, and Public Works Committe.

Ward 1 Councilman Sam Scaffide, sworn in Tuesday, will serve on Parks & Recreation Commission, Finance Committee, Fitness Advisory Board, and Safety Committee.
