5 Things to Know About the New School Year

Parents all over Twinsburg are rejoicing as their kids head back to school today

When school let out at the end of May, Wednesday, Aug. 17 seemed like an eternity. But now, the day has arrived and students in the are heading back to school. For some it may be the beginning, while for this year's seniors, it's the beginning of the end.

But with another school year comes more events and things to know. That's what we hope to help you with today. Here are 5 things you should know about this school year, starting today:

1. Homecoming is almost a month away already. The Tigers host Brush at 7 p.m. Friday night, and the dance is from 8-11 p.m. Saturday night.

2. Report card dates: Friday, Oct. 21; Friday, Jan. 6 (4-12); Friday, Jan. 13 (K-3); Friday, March 9.

3. They may have just gone back, but you know they are already looking forward to these major breaks:

  • Thanksgiving: Wednesday, Nov. 23-Friday, Nov. 25
  • Winter: Thursday, Dec. 22-Tuesday, Jan. 3
  • Spring Break: Friday, April 6-Friday, April 13
  • Summer Break begins on Friday, May 25.

4. You know your junior and senior daughters have this date on their calendars already. Friday, May 11 is the prom. While you're thinking about it, .

5. Remember how we mentioned the beginning of the end for seniors earlier? Well their THS careers officially end on Tuesday, May 22 with the THS 2012 Graduation Ceremony at E.J. Thomas Hall.
