Tune your dials to 850 AM Tuesday night to hear a local student on the radio.
Shayla Smith, a second-grade student at Bissell Elementary, will be on air with Je'Rod Cherry, a host of Three-Deep, on ESPN 850 WKNR from 7:30-8 p.m.
Smith won the guest spot as part of Bissell's two-week Read-A-Thon. The programs goal was to raise $10,000 and have the students read more than 185,000 minutes. Official results will be tallied Friday.
Cherry participated in the reading program's kickoff.
"He was very inspiring and the kids were so pumped to participate," PTO Secretary Joanne Schuas said.
She said there will be a "shout out" to Twinsburg and Bissell and that it's a great way to recognize the community.
Cherry is a former safety who won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots.
