Chardon Tragedy: Superintendent Powers Reacts

Twinsburg City Schools Superintendent Kathryn Powers shared her reaction on Monday's tragic shooting and Twinsburg's preparedness

When tragedy strikes a school district like Monday's shooting at Chardon High School, it only makes sense for other districts to look into their own policies and procedures for those situations.

We reached out to Twinsburg Superintendent Kathryn Powers for her reaction to Monday's tragedy and how prepared the district is for the same situation.

Indeed, this is a very tragic and sad day for Chardon High School and for the Chardon community.  Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Superintendent Joe Bergant and the entire Chardon Schools family.
I am certain that the Chardon Local School District has a crisis plan which would have immediately been implemented this morning.  The also has a Crisis Plan which is updated annually.  As a matter of fact, our plan is currently being reviewed and I expect to seek approval for its revision by our Board of Education in March.  Additionally, School Resource Officer Ron Fruscella is present at our high school everyday and is a valuable resource for not only the high school, but also for the entire school district.

According to WKYC, one student is dead and four others were injured in Monday's shooting.
