Children to Learn Bike Safety, Race at Dodge

Twinsburg Public Library, police and Ohio Bicycle Federation will present the 2012 Twinsburg Bike Rodeo

Children looking for a combination of learning and racing can find it Saturday at .

The Children's Place of , the , and the Ohio Bicycle Federation will host the Twinsburg Bike Rodeo from 10 a.m. to noon. in the school's parking lot. The youngsters will learn bike safety tips, take part in a snail race and navigate a slalom course.

"Bike riding is the No. 2 outdoor activity, behind walking, in the United States year after year," said Bill Snow, a volunteer with the Ohio Bicycle Federation. "To learn about bike safety early on leads to safer riding.

"Who doesn't want to enjoy riding a bike for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning?"

Helmets are mandatory and the organizations pledge to hold the event, rain or shine. The riders' parents are also welcome to ride a path to Idlewood park afterwards for hot dogs that will be cooked by the police department.

Attendees can arrive at any time between 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. to participate. Parents are encouraged to register their children by calling the library at 330-425-4268.
