Donate Gently Used Formal Dresses to Make Prom Special for Everyone

The Akron YMCA and the East Market Street Church of God are accepting donations of dresses, accessories and other items that make prom night special.

Prom season is fast approaching, but not everyone can afford to make it as special as it should be. Here's how you can help:

The Akron YMCA Teen Leaders Club is partnering with the East Market Street Church of God to help young girls unable to buy their dream dress and accessories get them for free.

Donate your gently used dresses, accessories and shoes from now until Feb. 29 at any Akron YMCA location.

“When the Teen Leaders heard that East Market Street Church of God was collecting dresses to help local teen girls have an opportunity to attend a formal dance, they immediately came and told me they wanted to help,” said Jennifer Pfeister, teen coordinator at the Lake Anna YMCA. “This is exactly what being a Teen Leader is all about.”

On Feb. 29, the donations will be delivered to East Market Street Church of God located on 2084 E. Market St., Akron.
