While teaching, Johnson earned her master’s degree in counseling and served as a school counselor. Soon after, she earned a second master’s degree in school administration and became an administrative intern at the third- and fifth-grade buildings.

In her role as administrative intern, Johnson worked on curriculum for a year before becoming the assistant principal at Bedford High School, a position she held for five years.

Johnson said she loves being a principal at Bissell and plans to keep the school’s past record of excellence going strong.

“I hope to continue and move forward with the excellent standards (Bissell Elementary) already has,” she said. “It’s important to grow and to move forward. My idea is to create and maintain an excellent status.”

Her style as principal encourages open communication among members of the school administration.

“I’m a collaborative principal," Johnson said. “Staff input is very important.”

When she’s not at school, Johnson likes to spend time with her family. She has a husband and two children, the youngest of which just started kindergarten. She also likes to stay involved in sports and stay active.

Johnson said the Twinsburg school district is a great place to be.

“I love the fact that I am here," she said. "The staff is wonderful, the students are great and the parents are supportive.”
