Powers: Next Three Weeks 'Critical' for District's Future

Wednesday's board of education meeting will begin the process for budget cuts in the school district

Tonight's Twinsburg Board of Education meeting begins an important three weeks in the financial planning for the 's future.

In the next three meetings, each on Wednesday evenings, the administration and board will begin the process of making cuts to the district's budget.

“The next three weeks are really going to be critical to the future of the school district,” said Superintendent Kathryn Powers.

At tonight's meeting Powers will present an overview from the community forums, including specific feedback from option sheets parents filled out. The community forums informed residents of the district the possible cuts to . Tonight's meeting is at 7 p.m. in the .

“It’s intersting data to see what people value and what they don’t necessarliy like," Powers said.

In the Jan. 25 meeting at 6 p.m. in , the board will begin to determine what goals it wants to set and brainstorm how it can achieve them.

At the Feb. 1 regular meeting, the goals and how to meet them will be officially defined. The official budget cuts plan will be presented and voted on at the April 18 meeting.

Also in tonight's meeting

Rep. Lynn Slaby will stop by to present a commendation to the district for it's "Excellent With Distinction" rating on this state report card.

The board will also vote to approve the revised job description for the superintendent position in the district.
