School District, Support Staff Agree on Contract With Wage Freezes

The Twinsburg School Board approved a new 1.5 year contract with the Twinsburg Support Staff Association on Wednesday

Weeks after the teachers union agreed to a new contract with the school district, a new contract with the support staff was approved Wednesday.

The Twinsburg Support Staff Association agreed to an agreement on a 1.5 year contract with base wage freezes and increased health care contributions.

The previous contract expired in December 2011 and the new one will run from January 1, 2012 until June 30, 2013.

"The members of our classified staff have shown that they are dedicated as always to the staff and students of this school district,” Superintendent Kathryn Powers said.

, most employees health care premiums will increase to 10 percent. This increase is specifically for employees working 31 hours per week or above. Because classified staff shifts vary in hours per week, not all the increases will be the same.

The school board and administration were glad to come to an agreement quickly.

"The good news is that we came to some agreements in a shorter period of time,” Board President Ron Stuver said.
