Twinsburg Athletic Boosters Trying to Raise Money for Showcase

Commemorative bricks will be sold to help pay for construction.

Twinsburg athletes past and present will hopefully be able to view the many awards and accomplishments over the years in a proposed showcase.

The Twinsburg Athletic Boosters (TAB) is raising money by selling commemoritve bricks that will eventually be installed in the hallway of Twinsburg High School as part of the showcase of Twinsburg Athletic Boosters Hall-of-Fame.

"For the last year and a half the boosters have been very supportive of this," Gary Sorace, TAB chairperson said.

He got the idea three years ago as a way to show how successful so many Twinsburg teams have been over the years.

"I felt it was a shame they weren't being recognized after they were gone because they didn't have the room," Sorace said.

The 50-foot showcase is planned for the arched wall nearest to the auditorium in the high school commons. It will contain six sets of trophy cases and a two-foot space above for the TAB Hall-of-Fame.

The cost of the project will be around $45,000 paid for by the boosters. Sorace said they hope to pay for that by selling the commemorative bricks at $125 each.

Each brick will hold up to three lines with 14 characters per line. To get an order form email gsorace@msn.com.

The project was sent out to bid recently, however, Sorace said the bids came back too high to start the project right now. It has been put on hold and may be reconfigured.

"By the time this project is completed, we will have an enhanced entrance to our athletic wing, as well as a wonderful tribute to our friends, families and former participants," Vance Venesky, TAB president, said. "We are looking forward to Mr. Soraces's visino becoming a reality.

Whenvever it may come to fruition, Sorace said he wants the school's rich sports history to be recognized by alumni and visitors.

"I want them to see that we are well aware that Twinsburg has a great past and that they haven't been ignored or forgotten."
