Twinsburg Golf Split in Tough Competition

Boys defeat Nordonia, drop matches to Stow and Solon

The Twinsburg High School Boys' Golf Team won a match and lost two, in a tough week of competition in the NOC, which proved to be too much for the young Tigers.

Twinsburg hosted Stow on Tuesday, Aug. 30, where the highly ranked Bulldogs scored 151 to the Tigers' 171. Leading all players was Stow’s Ian Holt, with a two-under par 34.  Stow’s Ryan Foster and Brandon Nixon followed with a 37 and 39, respectively. None of the Tiger players were able to break 40, as seniors Nick Southworth and Sean McGuire led the way for the home team with a 41 and 42.

The following day, Twinsburg hosted Nordonia High School, and put up their second win of the season. Nordonia’s Nick Amrao and Twinsburg’s Sean McGuire each posted a respectable 39, leading all players. Southworth followed with a 41, and sophomore Austin Evans scored a 43, leading the Tigers to a 166 to 176 win over the Knights.

Littman led all players with a 2-over-par 37. Unfortunately, McGuire received no help from his teammates, as seniors Nick Southworth, Matt Jaskiewicz and Ryan Bequette posted 46, 51 and 56, respectively. Sophomore Drew Orris was the Tigers’ next-best score, with a 42.
