Happy Independence Day!

Thankfully, Will Smith didn't have to save us from alien invasion this year (Editor's Note: If you're confused, Google Independence Day movie).

On a more serioius note, today is a great day to remember our country and the principles of freedom that it was founded upon. We hope you have a fun and enjoyable day with family and friends and remember what freedom really means.

So in order to start your July 4 off right, we have 5 important facts to know for today:

1. City offices are closed today. If you have a question of complaint for your public official, it will have to wait until tomorrow, because nobody will be there.

2. Like any national holiday, the United States Postal Service is closed today, too. That means no mail, so don't walk out to your box. It will be empty.

3. If you want something to do in Twinsburg, there will be a reading of the near the on Public Square at 1 p.m.

4. The reason we celebrate today is because in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was ratified, listing grievances against King George and breaking ties between the colonies and the mother country of England, establishing freedom throughout the land.

5. We leave you with a powerful quote from Thomas Paine, one of the famous men who took part in the revolution: "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
