Library Raises More Than $800 With Musical Event

The tally is in and the Twinsburg Public Library was able to raise $816 with 'Coffee For A Cause'

Talented teens performed to a packed audience for the library’s 11th annual  on April 8.

The library raised $816 for Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) by selling donated baked goods, sodas, coffee and The Cause T-shirts. Guests enjoyed their treats while Emcees, Ian Bojalad and Mackenzie Barry, left, kept the acts rolling, the guests laughing, and encouraged them to support the cause with their purchases.

Every year, guests are amazed at the local talent. This year was no exception. Mimi Chiu performed a piano recital called Something Popular, mixing well-known pop tunes, SuperMario music, and the theme song to The Office. Singers included Claire Kelly, Erik Zito, Bridget Keenan, Punita Peketi, Mariah Harris, and Victoria Denker. Gracing the stage were many singer/songwriters on guitar including Jessica Onion, Danielle Taiwo, and Athena Toth. Original poetry was recited by the first-place winner of the poetry contest, Rachel Murar, as well as third-place winner Meredith Helene Aistrope, and Lyndsi Hersch.

In between the many moving pieces, the crowd was entertained with various comedy acts like Abbott and Costello’s Waiting to Order performed by Rachel and Brian Murar, and Kelly Mueller; SpongeBob Squarepants’ Sweet Victory sung by Mike and Zakk Akin. Jeffrey Koudelka, Ian Lawrence, and Josh Isihara performed The Duel by Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. Jenny Hansler and Orville Dawson performed Honey Bun by Rogers and Hammerstein. Grace Blanchard and Marina Fazio performed Action Movie Parody by Morgan Fisher. In two duets, Will Myers played guitar and sang with Ian Lawrence and amazing vocalist Nikki Bosso. Nikki also sang The Funeral by Band of Horses with emcee Ian Bojalad on piano.

Only one band, Hazard, performed with members Evan Wachholz, Matthew McAllister, and Ryan Wood. Other unique performances included the horn quartet Natasha and the Crescen’dudes; Nick Bartulovic on violin performing Czardas by V. Monti; and the Twinsburg High School Gospel Choir.
