Roundabouts Q&A With City Engineer Amy Mohr

Twinsburg Patch took some time to ask Twinsburg's City Engineer Amy Mohr to address some questions and concerns residents have with the State Route 91 project

With all the talk about roundabouts and road construction on State Route 91 lately, it can be easy to get confused about what's going on. Twinsburg Patch talked with Twinsburg Engineer Amy Mohr to get answers to the most common questions folks ask. Twinsburg Patch: Is the SR 91 project with roundabouts a "done deal?" Amy Mohr: I have approval to move forward with the roundabout at the Glenwood intersection, which is Phase I. Before they make the decision about Meadowood Drive, they want to make sure everything is functioning the way they feel is good and get everyone acclimated in the area. We're moving forward on Phase I, which is the Glenwood/SR 91 area. TP: Will this project require another vote from city council? AM: It won't require a…

k, Scott, one more time: I am not conconcerned about the main, rouncabout interesection. I am concerned about the impact of constant traffic flow on left hand turn traffic further south on 91, especially near Deer Run apartments. I will concede that the intersection of Glenwood & 91 WILL likely be safer. What I'm telling you, and what NO ONE has been able to SHOW me (mathimatically/statistically…   more ›

Council Split on Roundabout Future of SR 91

Plans barely move forward on construction of SR 91, not yet a "done deal."

Twinsburg City Council President Ted Yates said plans to construct roundabouts at two intersections on State Route 91 are not a "done deal." That sentiment was shared by several council members, especially when voting on a motion to post comments from the October meeting about the road construction. Council split 4-3 in favor of posting the comments that were addressed from the October meeting, some fearing this would be moving forward on a project they were unsure about it. Yates, Ward 1 Councilman Sam Scaffide, At-Large Councilman Bill Furey, and Ward 4 Councilwoman Maureen Stauffer voted for moving forward. Ward 5 Councilman Seth Rodin, Ward 2 Councilman Bob McDermott and At-Large Councilman Gary Sorace voted against it. Sorace, who …

Bring Your Questions to Tonight's Sunview Drive Improvements Meeting

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Twinsburg Government Center

Tonight Sunview Drive residents can get any of their questions answered about the $1.26 million project starting in February. City Engineer Amy Mohr said she hopes residents come to tonight's preconstruction meeting to find out what they can expect with the project and when. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Twinsburg Government Center. "Our goal is to talk to the residents impacted and inform them on what they can expect during this project and to answer any questions they have,” Mohr said. She said the project would include sanitary and waterline replacements, fixing and replacing storm drains, reconstructing the road as well as sidewalks and aprons affected during the project. City Will Have Second Public Meeting on Roundabouts

After an unsuccessful meeting on Oct. 20, city officials want to give a more formal presentation in February

After a public meeting on Oct. 20, Twinsburg residents weren't too excited about the two planned roundabouts on SR 91. That's why the mayor and city council members said at a caucus meeting Monday, they thought it would be best to have another public meeting, with a more formal presentation on the plans, tentitavely planned for February. The plans would widen SR 91 from Post Road north to the Solon city limit and building two modern roundabouts at the Glenwood Drive and Ethans Drive/Meadowood Boulevard intersections. The GPD Group, the engineering firm working on the project, gave a formal presentation during a caucus meeting, which was open to the public, bringing council members up to speed on the project and the comments from the Oct. …

Before anymore more money is spent on Engineering Plans for additional roundabouts, I believe it is time to address the threatening game of chicken at the roundabout at Liberty and Glenwood . One inexpensive solution would be to replace the small existing yield signs with large warning YIELD signs. That could send a LOUD message to driver that the roundabout is not their privileged nonstop …   more ›
