Celebration for Kent State Baseball Team is Thursday

University will honor team for first-ever College World Series appearance

Kent State University’s Golden Flashes baseball team will be honored at a “Season of Champions” celebration event on Thursday, June 28, at the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with a presentation beginning at 7 p.m. The celebration event is free and open to all. Attendees will receive a free T-shirt, including other giveaways, and will have the opportunity for a meet-and-greet and signing with members of the baseball team before and after the event. Refreshments will be served at the event, which also will feature video highlights from the championship season. The 2012 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year Scott Stricklin, who led the team, will address attendees at the celebration event. The Kent State baseball …

Mark Teixeira Named Patch 'Commissioner of Baseball'

The two-time All-Star will be a regular contributor on Patch, answering questions, posting exclusive video and offering advice to young athletes.

Patch is no longer your pinch-hitter; now we're batting cleanup. Mark Teixeira, a two-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove Award winner currently playing first base for the New York Yankees, has been named "Commissioner of Baseball" at Patch. Teixeira, who just turned 32, will be a contributor on Patch sites around the country. Welcome our Newest Blogger: Adam Gockowski

A Kent State senior and Twinsburg grad will blog about baseball and the funny side of life

Twinsburg Patch wants to introduce and give a warm welcome to our newest, and funniest blogger yet, Adam Gockowski. Adam, 21, is a senior at Kent State University, where he majors in electronic media production and is the vice president of the Sigma Nu fraternity. So far Adam has written three blogs (see links below) for us and we must say: He is quite humorous. He plans on writing about his favorite subject ever, baseball, that is until the season ends.
