A 17-year-old Twinsburg teen is charged with grand theft auto after police say he stole a neighbor's car, and then crashed it on his way to visit his grandmother, according to Solon police. According to the report, the teen's neighbor gave him her apartment key and told him to wake her in the morning. Instead, police say the teenager took her phone and the car, a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. The teenager took the car to visit his grandmother in Cleveland, but was driving on East 151st street when he lost control and hit a tree. The damage to the car made it not driveable, according to the report. The teenager was charged with grand theft auto, a fifth-degree felony. He was taken to juvenile detention center in Akron.

One Ravenna Road woman got a bad surprise after stepping out of the shower. On Aug. 22 a woman told Twinsburg police that her ex-boyfriend had stolen her car, her purse and $350 cash while she was bathing. Police entered the car as stolen. Keep the crack pipes at home, please On Aug. 22 police pulled over a car on I-480 near State Route 91 for speeding. Not only did the driver have a warrant from Rocky River on drug charges, his passenger was found with syringes, a spoon and two crack pipes. He was wanted in Pennsylvania on burglary charges. Senseless vandalism A Ravenna Road woman called police on Aug. 24 after someone damaged her car while it was parked at her apartment complex. Damage was estimated at $1,500. Random registration …

Police had their work cut out for them last weekend on the roadways with several drug busts and drunken driving arrests. On July 8 police pulled over a car on State Route 82 for having one headlight. During the stop officers smelled marijuana and found two baggies, a metal smoking pipe and a cigarette. The person was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession. The same day another car was stopped for weaving and police found a smoking device and a bag of weed. The driver was arrested for possession and drunken driving. Drinking and Speeding On July 7 a man was pulled over on Hadden Road for speeding. During the stop officers noted the man did poorly on a field sobriety test and refused a breathalyzer.
