BOIL ALERT: Some Twinsburg Customers May Need to Take Precautions

Some residents in Twinsburg and Twinsburg Townships will have to boil water their water until 2 p.m. Thursday because of a water main break in Hudson.

The Twinsburg Police Department sent out a message Wednesday evening alerting some residents that they may need to boil their water because of a water main break in Hudson.  Here's the note posted to the Twisburg Police Department's Facebook page: "The water main break in Hudson is affecting customers in Hudson and Twinsburg Township. IF you live in the area of Darrow Road at the south limits of Twinsburg – Twinsburg Township AND YOU HAVE AKRON WATER as a water provider – you are under a boil alert until Feb. 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. If you have any questions as to who your water service provider is – check you payment history. Twinsburg To Discuss Handing Over Water Lines To Cleveland Water

In exchange for handing over Twinsburg's 97 miles of water lines, Cleveland Water would pay for infrastructure improvements.

Twinsburg Mayor Katherine Procop said that Cleveland Water is interested in taking control of the city's roughly 97 miles of water lines. In exchange for handing over those assets, Cleveland Water would pay for needed infrastructure improvements on the system. Procop brought up the issue at Tuesday's city council meeting. She said that Twinsburg had discussed the arrangement with Cleveland Water about five years ago, but city officials were not interested. Procop said she has done research on other communities with similar arrangements and found that they work well, with those communities receiving money to repair and enhance their water system.
