Future Rep. Dave Joyce on his Campaign, his Career and Bringing “Civility” to Congress

The Congressman-elect took some time on Thursday to talk to students about representing Northeast Ohio.

On Thursday, students in the 14th Congressional District had the chance to quiz future Rep. Dave Joyce on his career, his campaign and his plans for the future.  Joyce, speaking to students in Brecksville, focused on the importance of working with members of all parties and said that his decisions will be based on what’s best for Northeast Ohio. Joyce, a Republican, was elected on Nov. 6 to represent Ohio's 14th district in the House of Representatives, which stretches from Cuyahoga County all the way to Lake and Portage counties, including Twinsburg. Both Joyce and Blanchard were given three minutes to introduce themselves to the voters. Videos of both of their statements are attached to this story. The 14th district's seat has been held by Steven LaTourette for the last 18 years. However, he chose not to run for re-election, citing exhaustion with bipartisan bickering and political brinksmanship. The Republican party appointed Joyce, the Geauga County prosecutor…

Geauga County Prosecutor David Joyce has been selected to replace U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette (OH-14) on the ballot as the Republican nominee for his seat. He was selected by the GOP chairmen and central-committee secretaries from Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Portage, Summit and Trumbull counties, which are represented -- in full or in part -- by the 14th district during a meeting Friday afternoon in the Willoughby Hills Community Center. Joyce was nominated by Ashtabula County GOP Chairman Charlie Frye. "His 24 years of service as prosecutor in Geauga County has been exemplary," Frye said. Joyce was the only person nominated.
