Suspected Drunken Driver Arrested After Wild Ride

The following was obtained from a Twinsburg police report dated Feb. 23. It does not indicate a conviction.

A suspected drunken driver was hit with alcohol- and drug-related charges on Feb. 23 after he was caught speeding and swerving on Glenwood Drive. According to a Twinsburg police report, Thomas R. Nowowiejski nearly drove off a bridge, located just before Chestnut Trail, as an officer pulled him over. Nowowiejski, 24, of Holland, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor; drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor; and speeding and weaving, both minor misdemeanors, according to www.stowmunicourt.com. He was taken to Solon Jail and held on bond after refusing to cooperate with booking procedures at the Twinsburg jail. Nowowiejski is set to appear in Stow Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. …

Twinsburg Man Charged With Super Drunken Driving

The information in this report is from the Twinsburg Police. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 53-year-old Twinsburg man was charged with a "super" drunken driving charge after he was pulled over for speeding, according to Twinsburg Police. On Jan. 18, at about 11:50 p.m. a Twinsburg Police officer pulled over a car travelling 55 miles per hour on Ravenna Road, which is a 35-mile-per-hour zone. While talking to the driver, the police officer smelled alcohol. The driver admitted to drinking, according to the report, and performed poorly on sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to the Twinsburg jail, where he performed a breath test and registered a .208, more than double the legal limit of .08 and enough to bump up the charge to a so-called "super OVI." The man was released on bond and given a court date.

Vigilant Woman Leads Cops To Drunken Driver

The information in this report is from the Twinsburg Police. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A determined woman helped Twinsburg Police remove a drunken driver from city streets. On Dec. 7 at about 9:42 p.m., the woman called police to say that she was driving on Darrow Road behind someone driving erratically. She told police she had seen the car drive over several curbs before turning onto Darrow Park Drive. Officers arrived on the scene and the woman directed the police to the man's car, according to the police report. Officers found the driver, who was arrested for drunken driving. He registered a blood-alcohol level of .207, over the legal limit of .08, according to the report.

Drunken Driving Checkpoint in Portage County Saturday

The exact location and time will be announced Saturday morning.

On Saturday evening, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct a drunken driving checkpoint somewhere in Portage County.  The exact location of the checkpoint won't be released until Saturday morning.  The checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. "Based on provisional data, there were 332 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 359 people were killed last year and 7,507injured in Ohio," Lt. Nakia Hendrix, commander of the Ravenna Post, said. "State troopers make on average 25,000 OVIarrests each year in combating these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving,but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways." Check Patch Saturday …

Woman Charged With Drunken Driving After Nearly Hitting Police Car

What's the easiest way for police to catch a drunken driver? When they almost hit the cop's car. On Nov. 8 at around 6:45 p.m. two Twinsburg police cruisers were stopped in traffic at State Route 82 near Church Street when a car almost hit the rear police car. Officers said they heard screeching tires and saw the car just stop short of the rear cruiser, just missing it, and then pulling around and driving past. Police pulled the car over for the incident. The driver, Ebony Richardson, 34, of Cleveland, said she was looking at her cell phone and didn't see the car in front of her. Man Tells Police He Usually Drives at 190 MPH

This guy will readily admit: He has the need for speed. Joseph Emrick, 49, of Windham, was charged with drunken driving and reckless operation after Twinsburg police clocked his car flying down I-480 at 115 mph. While finishing up one traffic stop on Nov. 4 just before 3 a.m. when they were alerted about a car going about 120 mph on the highway. Once police found him they noticed he was weaving across the road and he was still gaining speed. Emrick admitted to speeding and failed field sobriety tests, according to police. However, the biggest shocker to police was what he told them after. While sitting in the back of a cruiser, he told officers that he "regularly travels I-480 at speeds of 160 to 190 mph," according to the report. But he …

Officers Break Down Door to Save Fallen Woman: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department.

Twinsburg police officers helped save a woman's life on Oct. 24. Dispatch recieved a panic alarm from a home at the 9800 block of Oakwood Drive. When officers arrived they heard someon inside calling for help. They kicked in the door and found the female resident on the floor of the living room.  They called the fire department and she was transported to the hospital. Man must've enjoyed a Fiesta before driving one On Oct. 25  police got a call from a person following a possible drunk driver on Ravenna Road.   The caller said a yellow Ford Fiesta was driving over the center line and had hit a curb.   Police found the car and pulled it over. The driver was arrested for drunken driving and was he was released on a $500 signature bond.

Driver Had a Little Too Much Fun at Concert: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department.

Twinsburg police stopped a car on Oct. 22 weaving on Darrow Road near Enterprise Parkway. The driver, a 21-year-old Ravenna man, said he was on his way back from a concert, where he had been drinking, and fell asleep while driving. According to police he failed the field sobriety test and was arrested for drunken driving. He blew a .083 on the breathalyzer, just over the legal limit. Man gets a lift in, iPhone gets lifted On Oct. 21 a man reported his iPhone 4S was stolen from the Powerhouse Gym on Ravenna Road. He said he accidentally left it there, but it was gone when he returned. Management said the phone was never turned in. Police: Drunken Driver Smashes Car, Forgets

A West Idlewood Drive man was arrested last week after he hit a parked car and drove away while he was drunk, according to police. John Tylek, 43, was charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of a crash after he hit a car in the RAV's Creekside parking lot on Sept. 20 and then driving away. The car's owner called police after she was told her car had been hit. A witness said she heard screeching tires and saw a car hit a parked car and leave. Police found the car described by the witness sitting in the Walgreen's parking lot "parked over the curb, in the tree lawn, diagonally across a few parking spaces," according to the report.
