Tallmadge Man Drives Drunk, Wrong Way: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

It doesn't matter if you drive the wrong way to avoid an accident. If you're drunk, you get busted. On Sept. 15 police saw several cars driving the wrong way on the I-480 east entrance ramp at State Route 91.  They were trying to avoid slow-moving traffic caused by an accident, but during one of the stops, police smelled alcohol on the driver's breath. The man, of Tallmadge, failed the field sobriety tests and was arrested for drunken driving. After blowing a .199 (.119 over the legal limit) on the breathalyzer, he was charged with drunken driving, blood-alcohol level and driving the wrong way. Motorcyclist OK After He Was Hit By Drunken Driver

A Twinsburg man hit a motorcycle from behind after having five beers, according to police

This story was updated at 1:30 p.m. A Twinsburg man was charged with aggravated vehicular assault after he struck a motorcyclist while driving drunk, according to police. Kwi Yong Kim, 28, hit Johnny Taylor, also from Twinsbug, who was driving a motorcycle, at the intersection of Darrow and East Aurora Roads just after 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, according to the police report. Officers said when they arrived, Taylor's motorcycle was on its side and he was on the ground, partially under the car. He was wearing a helmet but seemed to go in and out of conciousness. Taylor was taken to Hillcrest Hospital. He spoke with police late Sunday night, telling them he was released from the hospital. He said no bones were broken, but he was sore and …

Police: Drunken Driver Causes Crash, Found With Gun

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A Maple Heights man was charged with a felony after Twinsburg police found a gun on him during a drunken driving accident on Aug. 17. According to police, Kenneth Cifra, 22, was involved in an car accident around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Aurora Road and Church Street. As police arrived on the scene, they were told by dispatch that Cifra had a concealed carry permit and could have a gun on him. According to Ohio law, permit holders must notify police if they're carrying a weapon before being searched. In this instance, Cifra failed to mention his loaded .38 revolver under his shirt during a police search. Police could smell alcohol on his breath, according to the report, and he said he had four or five beers at 8 a.m. that …

Arbor Glen Woman Reports Stolen Diamonds: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department.

A woman living at Arbor Glen went to police on Aug. 16 to report a theft. She told police she believed two diamonds, one carat each and valued at $1,000, were stolen from a pair of earrings in her home. He needed more power On Aug. 13 police were called to a Ravenna Road business for a report of stolen extension cords. The business owner stated that on Aug. 11 a man took the extension cords from the work vehicles parked outside the business. Police reviewed security footage from a nearby business which showed the suspect, his vehicle and the actual theft. Police are investigating the incident. Drunken Driver Leaves Crash Scene: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department.

Twinsburg police stopped a woman at the 2500 block of East Aurora Road on Aug. 3 for weaving. During the stop officers heard the driver was involved in a hit-skip accident in the Comfort Inn parking lot and left the scene. After failing field sobriety tests the woman was arrested for drunken driving. Her blood-alcohol level was .091, above the legal limit. She was also charged with weaving and leaving the scene of a crash. Hot-wired hog A man dining at Panini's on Aug. 3 told police his motorcyle was stolen from the restaurant parking lot. Roadside Drug Busts and More: The Blotter

Police had their work cut out for them last weekend on the roadways with several drug busts and drunken driving arrests. On July 8 police pulled over a car on State Route 82 for having one headlight. During the stop officers smelled marijuana and found two baggies, a metal smoking pipe and a cigarette. The person was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession. The same day another car was stopped for weaving and police found a smoking device and a bag of weed. The driver was arrested for possession and drunken driving. Drinking and Speeding On July 7 a man was pulled over on Hadden Road for speeding. During the stop officers noted the man did poorly on a field sobriety test and refused a breathalyzer. Solon Woman Wanted by Twinsburg Cops Found With Cocaine

The information in this report is from the Solon Police. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 44-year-old Solon woman was arrested June 12 at McDonald's on an active warrant from the Twinsburg Police Department. During a search of her car, police found what they suspect is cocaine in the console of the car, according to a Solon Police report. Holly Wymer, 44, of Nightshade Lane in Solon, was charged with drug possession. She was held for TPD, which had a warrant out for her arrest for missing her court date for a drunken driving charge.

Cleveland Woman Busted for Six License Suspensions, Drugs: The Blotter

One license suspension is bad enough. But six? On June 3 Twinsburg police pulled over a woman in a Lexus behind the GetGo on Hadden Road. Officers were told the car smelled like marijuana and the driver looked like she was under the influence. Police identified Chantrice Hill, 25, of Cleveland, as the driver. According to police, Hill had six open suspensions on her driving record. During a search cops found raw marijuana and marijuana cigarettes in the car's ash tray. She was arrested and charged with driving under suspension and drug possession. Slumber party of theft party? Another Drunken Driving Checkpoint in Portage County This Weekend

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will announce the location Friday morning.

Portage County is becoming a popular location for sobriety checkpoints this year. The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Thursday morning that Portage will again be the site for a drunken driving checkpoint Friday evening. The street location for the checkpoint will be announced Friday morning. Check Patch for updates. The checkpoints are federally funded and local police departments assist in the operation. The purpose is to "deter and intercept impaired drivers," according to the OSHP. "Based on provisional data, there were 332 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 359 people were killed last year and 7,507 injured in Ohio,” Lt. Cops Bust Three Drunken Drivers in One Day: The Blotter

On May 6 a Twinsburg police officer saw a car weaving on Darrow Road and almost hit a sign when it turned onto Darrow Park Drive. During the traffic stop the officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic coming from the car. The driver said he was drinking and failed a series of sobriety tests. The driver was arrested and charged with drunken driving and weaving. You drink, you drive, you lose Police stopped a car on May 6 for speeding on S.R. 82.
