Kent Girls Soccer Beats Twinsburg 2-0

Rough Riders advance in state semi-final tournament action

By all rights, the Twinsburg girls' soccer team could have ended Kent Roosevelt’s tournament hopes in the first 10 minutes of Tuesday night’s first round sectional game. Kent avoided being down by a multi-goal margin when its goalie, Jenn Doershuk, turned away repeated Twinsburg breakaways in the early moments of the game. Twinsburg’s offense took early advantage of their home field turf and nearly ran the Kent side off the artificial pitch. Kent recovered its bearings when senior Erin Waples managed to get off a long range drive that skimmed over the outreached fingers of the Twinsburg goalkeeper. Stow Lady Soccer Team Beats Twinsburg Wednesday

The Lady Bulldogs beat Twinsburg 3-1 at Twinsburg Oct. 6. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Stow, but because of poor, wet field conditions it as moved.

One-On-One With Twinsburg Girls Soccer's New Head Coach

New head coach Chris Gentille took the time to chat with Twinsburg Patch about his recent hiring.

A few weeks ago Twinsburg High School athletic director Alex Popovich announced the hiring of Chris Gentille as new head coach of the Tigers' girls soccer team. Twinsburg Patch had a chance to catch up with Gentille.   Twinsburg Patch: Tell us a little bit about your soccer coaching experience. Chris Gentille: In 2000, I was the girls junior varsity head coach at Aurora, and then in 2002 I took over as the boys head coach Ravenna. In 2005 I came back to Aurora to be my father’s assistant at the junior varsity level due to family health issues for two years, and then from 2007 to 2010 I was the girls head coach at Ravenna.
