Brad Stuver's Hard Work Pays Off With MLS Draft Pick

Twinsburg graduate Brad Stuver was the 32nd pick in the MLS SuperDraft by the Montreal Impact. He talked to Twinsburg Patch about becoming a professional athlete.

Zoltan Mesko. James Posey. And now, Brad Stuver. These athletes once donned their blue and white Twinsburg Tiger uniforms and now are professional athletes in their respective sports. Stuver was the most recent addition to such an elite group after he was drafted by the Montreal Impact with the 32nd pick in the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday. "I'm feeling great," Stuver said Friday afternoon. "It's sunk in that I get to play pro soccer." One of several goalkeepers in the draft, Stuver was the first one selected this year. Ron Stuver: We're Extremely Proud and Excited for Brad

Twinsburg graduate Brad Stuver was the 32nd pick in the MLS SuperDraft by the Montreal Impact. His dad, Ron Stuver, is a Twinsburg Board of Education member.

Ron Stuver has spent the past week traveling around the country, following his son Brad, preparing for the Major League Soccer draft. On Thursday Brad was selected No. 32 in the SuperDraft to play goalkeeper for the Montreal Impact. Ron and his wife Leanne followed their son Brad, 22, to Lauderhill, FL for the MLS Combine from Jan. 11-15. They flew back from Florida and headed straight for Indianapolis for the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday. "My wife Leanne and I are extremely proud of him and excited," Ron said Friday morning. Ron, a member of the Twinsburg Board of Education, knew early on that his son Brad would do big things in soccer. "We knew years ago that he had an opportunity to play professionally," he said. Twinsburg Graduate Drafted By Major League Soccer Team

Brad Stuver, a 2009 Twinsburg High School graduate, was drafted No. 32 overall in the MLS draft. He was the first goalie selected.

Twinsburg High graduate Brad Stuver is going to be a professional soccer player. Stuver was selected No. 32 overall in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Thursday, according to Cleveland State. A standout goalie for Cleveland State, Stuver was the first goalkeeper taken and the first CSU Viking to ever be drafted into MLS. Stuver was selected by the Montreal Impact. A four-year starter for the Vikings, Stuver made 81 saves and posted an 0.86 goals against average this past season. He also recorded nine shutouts, tied for the second most in a season in school history. At Twinsburg, Stuver earned All-Ohio honors. He finished his high school career with 24 shutouts in goal and 12 goals and three assists as a midfielder. After being drafted…
