Tigers Look To Strike Back Against Nordonia

After a season-opening loss, Twinsburg's football team looks to get a win Friday

It was a tough way to open the season for the Twinsburg Tigers football team, losing to Aurora 29-23 last week. Even worse, star running back John Barton suffered a season-ending injury. But Twinsburg looks to get back on track Friday against the Nordonia Knights, who lost to Mayfield last week. Kick off is at 7 p.m. at Twinsburg Tiger Stadium. Last season, Twinsburg bounced back from a loss to Aurora, throttling the Knights 38-7.  Player to Watch With Barton out, the pressure rests on the arm and feet of senior quarterback Jalen Washington. Last week Washington passed for over 300 yards and a touchdown, but threw three interceptions and was sacked five times, according to the Plain Dealer. Twinsburg Golf Split in Tough Competition

Boys defeat Nordonia, drop matches to Stow and Solon

The Twinsburg High School Boys' Golf Team won a match and lost two, in a tough week of competition in the NOC, which proved to be too much for the young Tigers.  Twinsburg hosted Stow on Tuesday, Aug. 30, where the highly ranked Bulldogs scored 151 to the Tigers' 171. Leading all players was Stow’s Ian Holt, with a two-under par 34.  Stow’s Ryan Foster and Brandon Nixon followed with a 37 and 39, respectively. None of the Tiger players were able to break 40, as seniors Nick Southworth and Sean McGuire led the way for the home team with a 41 and 42. The following day, Twinsburg hosted Nordonia High School, and put up their second win of the season. Nordonia’s Nick Amrao and Twinsburg’s Sean McGuire each posted a respectable 39, leading all …

After a tough Week 1 loss at Aurora the Tigers are back in action tonight against the Knights of Nordonia. Here's five things you need to know about the Week 1 matchup. 1. Matchup History: The Tigers are 1-4 over the past five meetings with the Knights, winning last year's game 28-14 3. Joe Schiavone knew his Twinsburg football team would have its hands full in the season opener at Aurora. The Tigers fell behind early before playing their way back into the game against a quality opponent. "We had one too many mistakes and when you play great teams you have to minimize your mistakes," said Schiavone of his team's 19-7 setback to the Greenmen. "Every time we play Aurora it's a great game – we do a good job of breaking them down and they do a good job of breaking us down." The Tigers trailed 5-0 after the opening period of play on an Aurora safety and field goal.
