One Twinsburg family's Christmas lights would make Clark Griswold drool. Each year the Larsen family will deck out their Silverdale Circle home with Christmas lights, drawing families from miles around to gaze at its twinkling. The family created Silverdale Lights more than six years ago and has accepted donations from visitors for Project Blue Light and the Joshua Miktarian Scholarship Fund. Even though it brings people from everywhere to their home, it brings something else close together: Their own family.
Each year the Larsen family uses their fantastic Christmas lights display to raise money for the Joshua Miktarian Scholarship.
Even though it's May, a local family is in the Christmas spririt. Every Christmas since 2008, the year Twinsburg police officer Joshua Miktarian was shot and killed following a traffic stop, Scott Larsen and his family have decorated their Silverdale Circle home with thousands of holiday lights and displays. All to raise money for the Joshua Miktarian Scholarship fund. The holiday display has become a staple in the community. Larsen presented a check to Twinsburg Police Chief Chris Noga — something the family does each year. The scholarship, started soon after Miktarian's death, awards $2,500 to two students — one from Twinsburg and another from Tallmadge High School — who plan to enter into law the enforcement field. “It’s a magical and …

This is a great annual memorial; providing scholarship funds for dedicated law enforcement students, and Christmas lighting displays as a way to remember the bright light of Joshua Miktarians life.
