An expert shares advice for parents who are trying to explain the Newtown school shooting to their children.
In the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting tragedy, parents are wondering what to tell their children about what happened and how to help them process what they may be hearing from friends, on television and via social media. Lauren Hutchinson, LMFT is a child and family therapist and parenting consultant with a practice in Bellevue, WA. She says step one for parents is to “turn off the TV.” “We don’t want to have the TV playing in the background all the time. The Youtube footage is of Neil Zaza's "One Silent Night" 2012 concert at The Hanna Theater on Dec. 15. The world renowned rock guitarist played a show in Cleveland and dedicated 'Amazing Grace' to Macedonia Fire Capt. Dan Gagliardi and the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary. Every year, Zaza plays a benefit concert with the Twinsburg Orchestra and the Twinsburg High School Orchestra. Zaza will also host a guitar clinic at GitterPicker Family Learning Center for Music on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.

Twinsburg Police Chief Chris Noga has posted a message re-affirming the police department's committment to school safety in the wake of last week's school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Netown, Conn. Noga said that both his department and the Twinsburg School District are committed to working together for the safety of the city's children.
