After the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary on Dec. 14, school security has once again become a main issue in education. On Monday, school security expert Ken Trump, president and CEO of National School Safety and Security Services, gave a presentation for the Solon City School District putting the topic of school safety into context. While he is conducting an in-depth analysis of the security in Solon schools, his message to parents is applicable to everyone. A father of two himself, Trump said the Sandy Hook tragedy was a punch to the gut for everyone. "It left a psychological scar on all of us," he said. A Medina man was charged with inducing panic after he posted a status update supporting the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
A Medina man posted support for the Sandy Hook gunman on Facebook, leading to a charge of inducing panic, reports WKYC Channel 3. Joseph Resovsky, 20, told the news station he was only trying to prove a point with his post by showing that people forget about things easily. His post, according to WKYC: "I'm so happy somebody shot up all those little (expletive). Viva la School Shootings!!!!" Medina Police say they received tons of calls and complaints about the post. In wake of Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, Dick's has removed all guns from the store closest to Newtown, Conn.
In wake of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, Dick’s Sporting Goods, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, has suspended sales of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles from its store nationwide. The company, which is headquartered in Moon Township, PA, also has removed all guns from its chain closest to Newtown, Conn. The move follows a decision made by Walmart, which pulled the Bushmaster gun from its website on Monday. In a statement, Dick's said the move was made out of respect to the victims and families of Newtown. Friday’s shooting left 20 children, all between the ages of 6 and 7, and six adults dead. A gunman shoots at staff, children at a Newtown (CT) elementary school.
Officials in Newtown, CT, say they're trying to reunite parents with their children in the wake of a shocking multiple shooting at an elementary school in the town’s Sandy Hook neighborhood. First Selectman Pat Llodra told Patch that there is no information being released about the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting — only confirming that there was a shooting. To me the issue is not what he he used to kill, but why he did it. How could his mental issues been noticed and quickly handled for everyone's safety. We need to have proper mental health facilities available to assist parents, friends, coworkers etc when they notice an issue with someone. We need to try and get help for those we are concerned about and not just hope someone else will do it. more ›
