We hope that you will take a moment today and reflect on the the great tragedy Sept. 11 embodies. We were all affected in some way, and there are those who have lost loved ones or know someone who was hurt by this tragedy, 10 years ago. Our thoughts and prayers will be with those who lost family or friends on 9/11. It was a pretty busy week here at the Twinsburg Patch and we had many great stories we brought to you over the past seven days. As a chaplain with the Bedford Fire Department, Twinsburg resident Michael Millet spent 10 days counseling rescue workers in the aftermath of 9/11

Michael Millet is now a chaplain for the Twinsburg Fire Department and pastor at Summit Church in Twinsburg. But on Sept. 11, 2001, then a Twinsburg resident and Bedford Fire Department chaplain, Millet spent 10 days in the wreckage at Ground Zero, counseling rescue workers. In light of the 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11, we sat down with him and talked about his experience.

Remembering 9/11: Twinsburg Honors Lives Lost With 'Gathering of Remembrance'

The special concert will pay tribute to the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001

As a “solemn remembrance” of the lives lost and affected by the tragic attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Twinsburg will host the Gathering of Remembrance, presented by the Twinsburg Public Library. The event will start Sunday at 2 p.m. and includes a patriotic concert by the Western Reserve Community Band. Several speakers will be on hand including Twinsburg City Council President Gary Sorace, Police Chief Chris Noga, and Library Director Laura Leonard. The VFW 4929 will serve as the honor guard for the day. “I think it’s a form of healing for everyone to remember,” said Leonard. “It really affected all of us.” The Western Reserve Community Band was looking for a venue to play, but because the band has 70 members, the library just wouldn’t do, …

Adam Loeser, a 1992 Theodore Roosevelt High School graduate, rode into his hometown Tuesday afternoon as part of the "Ride for 9-11" firefighters cycling to New York City for the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Loeser, now a firefighter in southern California, talked about how his hometown had created one of the grandest welcoming receptions so far for the group, which started its 3,300-mile ride from the West Coast on July 24. Remembering 9/11: Twinsburg Plans to Join National Moment of Remembrance on Sept. 11

City wants to honor those affected by Sept. 11 attacks by joining remembrance ceremony

When Twinsburg City Council meets tonight for a special meeting, the topic won't be the typical legislation. The city wants to express its support of and honor those whose lives that were deeply affected by the terrorist attacks on the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, by joining the National Moment of Remembrance. The event is in honor of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Mayor Katherine Procop said she heard of this resolution through the National League of Cities and thought it would be a terrific way for Twinsburg to show its support. We are looking for Twinsburg residents who were directly affected by the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, including the wars and other aftermath of that fateful day

Everyone remembers where they were on Sept. 11, 2001.  But in every community across America, there are those who were more directly affected by the terrorist attacks and the confusing decade of war, fear and unrest that has followed. We are looking for those of you in Twinsburg who have felt that effect more closely than most, and we want to share your stories. Telling your stories is the best way locally we can help come to terms with that terrible day and the way it changed our country. Were you there or know someone who was in New York or D.C. that day? Tales From The Twinsburg Public Library

Library Hosting Two Patriotic Programs

The Twinsburg Public Library will host two programs in the next few weeks to commemorate September 11 and World War II

The Twinsburg Public Library will be honoring two landmark events in United State's history by hosting A Gathering of Remembrance for September 11 and WWII Reminisces. On Saturday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. the Library will host W.E.B. 'Bill' Mason, who was a Lancaster bomber pilot in the Royal Air Force.  Bill was born in Canada but grew up in Toledo, attending high school and the University of Toledo.  When the war started he was a pilot trainee but when he couldn't prove citizenship, he was sent home.  He transferred to the British RAF soon after. Come and listen to this natural storyteller reminisce his time during WWII. On Sept. 11 at 2 p.m., Twinsburg Public Library and the Friends of the Twinsburg Library will partner with the Western …
