Twinsburg City Council hopes to have voters consider rezoning properties at Darrow Road and Enterprise Parkway for a new senior housing development.
Twinsburg City Council will soon consider sending to voters a rezoning that would allow a company to build new residential development for seniors. The council introduced the rezonings at its meeting this week. If approved by voters -- the plan is to put the rezonings on the November ballot -- then Westside Falls LLC plans to develop senior housing at 8256 Darrow Road near Enterprise Parkway. Few details are available on the scope of the development at this time. The city planning commission has already reviewed the rezoning requests and have recommended approval, according to city documents. The city council will consider the rezonings over the next few meetings before finalizing the decision to send it to the voters this fall.

Twinsburg City Counsil is considering an ordinance to hire Golf Sense Inc. to study the course and make recommendations on how it can remain competitive with the area's other municipal and private golf courses. Golf Sense beat out three other firms for consideration. The ordinance to hire the firm had its first reading Tuesday night. The study will examine each hole and look for ways to improve their design and landscaping to make a better experience for golfers. The goal, of course, is to help the course bring in more revenue and more rounds of golf each year.

The Twinsburg City Council recently gave final approval to a ballot measure that would ask the voters to decide whether to repeal a quarter-cent income tax.
Twinsburg City Council recently gave final approval to a ballot measure that asks city voters to decide in November whether to reduce the city income tax rate. If voters approve the measure Nov. 5, the city's income tax will fall to 2 percent from 2.25 percent. The move by city council keeps a promise that city officials made back in 2009 to repeal the income tax within 4 years, once the city weathered the "economic storm." City council members have said that putting the wheels in motion to repeal the extra tax is one of their priorities this year. The quarter-percent income tax brought in about $3 million extra in 2011, and about $3.2 million in 2012. The tax was initially approved to help bolster city revenues after the Chrysler plant …

He asked the city to provide information and access to the building so they could find possible uses that would allow the city to save the school. "More than anything, we need some time so we could do this," Turle said. "I'm asking for the opportunity to do this for our city and the preservation of our city." Mayor Katherine Procop said city officials will consider the residents' proposal and let them know. City officials, including …

Mayor Katherine Procop said it would cost up to $8 million to properly rehabilitate the Old School.

Mayor Katherine Procop said the city would use the building for the Twinsburg Community Theatre
The Twinsburg City Council plans to purchase the old township hall from Twinsburg Township for $210,000. The city council approved the contract on Tuesday night. The township still has to approve the contract as well, but Procop said she believes the township will accept the city's offer, which was reached after a long negotiation. Procop said the city wants to buy the building, located on Ravenna Road next to the Twins Days Festival offices, so that the Twinsburg Community Theatre could use the building for storage and other purposes. Right now, the Old School is used for storage for the community theatre, Procop said.

Dean - I've been saying that for years. A clubhouse with a nice raised deck to overlook the 18th (now the 9th) would be cause enough to stay for a few post-golf drinks and stories. Glen Eagles has the largest parking lot of any golf course within 20 miles, second to perhaps Sleepy Hollow...but at least they have the clubhouse/banquet hall.   more ›
