Head Coach Julie Solis has Twinsburg primed for another big season with a 5-0 start.
Three straight state titles and an in-state winning streak. Those are two subjects Twinsburg girls basketball coach Julie Solis doesn't have on her mind. "I honestly, and this is the truth, i don' t think about those things," Solis said. Obviously she is still competitive and wants championships and winning streaks, but like all good coaches, she won't give it the time of day. She simply focuses on the next game. "We had a good start and we're just trying to learn how to play with each other," Solis said. "I'm pretty happy." But sitting at 5-0 this season, the Lady Tigers are primed for another run at the state championship and haven't lost a game to an Ohio team in about two years, according to the Plain Dealer. "We still have a long way …
Twinsburg girls basketball coach Julie Solis is looking to a strong group of seniors to step up this season.
Trying to win a third-straight state championship while losing one of the best players in the state would be a challenge for any team. But if one team could do it, it would be the Twinsburg Lady Tigers. Head Coach Julie Solis is entering the season off to a great start already, leading the Tigers to a 5-0 record. And she's done it without the size of Malina Howard, who is suiting up for the University of Maryland this season. "Malina is a great player and it was great to have her but our identity is a lot different," Solis said. "It makes a difference not having someone who's 6'4"." Solis said her team is playing well so far and trying to learn to play together. She's happy with their start. "We're going with what we have," Solis said. "…

Twinsburg senior Malina Howard had two points, five rebounds in the 79-78 win
It was a close finish, but in the end Malina Howard's East squad beat the West 79-78 in the 2012 McDonald's All-American Girls High School Basketball Game. Howard played 14 minutes, scoring two points, five rebounds and two assists. The East was able to win on a crazy finish, with Bashaara Graves, a Tennesse Volunteers recruit, making the game-winning free throw, according to ESPN.COM. The post-season fun isn't over yet for Howard, as she will play in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association 2012 High School All-America Game this Sunday in Denver, Colorado. Howard has committed to play basketball for the Maryland Terrapins when she graduates in May.

The Twinsburg girls basketball team faces the Reynoldsburg Raiders in a "Battle of the 'Burgs."
Only one game stands between the Twinsburg Lady Tigers basketball team and another chance at the state title. The Tigers will play the Reynoldsburg Raiders tonight at Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus. Tip off is at 8 p.m. Lead by University of Maryland recruit Malina Howard, the Tigers have a 23-3 (8-0) and have yet to be beat in Ohio. The Tigers used a strong second half to advance to the state final four, beating rival Solon, 54-37 last week. But it won't be that easy. The Raiders will be tough competition, ranked No. 1 in the state by the AP with a 26-0 record. But can they stop Malina Howard, who was recently named the Gatorade Ohio Girls High School Player of the Year? We'll find out tonight in Columbus…
