WEWS: Township Animal Shelter Seeking Donations After Hoarding Case

Close to 100 animals were removed from a Summit County home Friday and taken to the shelter

The Pawsibilities Humane Society of Greater Akron in Twinsburg Township needs your help. In a case of animal hoarding, close to 100 animals were seized from a Jarvis Road home in Coventry Township on Friday. The animals were taken to the shelter, which is now over capacity, according to News Channel 5. Shelter Executive Director Karen Hackenberry said authorities rescued 43 dogs, 25 birds, several cats, rabbits, ferrets and an iguana from the home. However, because the investigation is ongoing, she wouldn't comment on the conditions in which the animals were kept, said Channel 5. “Around 200 to 250 animals is pretty much capacity for us, so when you add another hundred to the 225 we already had, it is a strain,” Hackenberry told Channel 5…
