Bites Nearby Classic: Station 43 Tavern

The hot place to be in Solon

Station 43, located on Route 43 in Solon, is one hot spot. Who should know better than two firemen? Mike Ruth and Bob Shimits started this tavern in 2006. With the help of partners, they renovated the building, searched for fire-related memorabilia and came up with a menu and atmosphere to appeal to families and bar patrons alike. The subsequent expansions to the building reflected their success. As you walk in, the clink of glassware, the hum of people talking and joking mix with the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen. As you look around you’ll see photographs of Solon spanning many years, uniforms, patches, helmets and other fire-related items covering the walls and ceiling. Back in February we told you about Chicago Deli & Restaurant. We decided to go back through some of our favorite Bites Nearby reviews, to make sure you know of the best places in the area to eat. CHICAGO DELI & RESTAURANT Chicago Deli is easy to miss, but boy, you'll regret it if you do. Tucked away in the corner of the Solar Shopping Center at Aurora Road and SOM Center, it is easy to find if you follow the delicious aromas. According to the deli's website, the deli was started in 1981 by George Hamway who promised to "serve great food at reasonable prices in a friendly and clean atmosphere."  The menu is huge, plus there are many daily specials.
