Man Pulls Gun On Twinsburg Police Officer During Traffic Stop

Twinsburg Police officers had to remove a man from his car by gunpoint after they noticed a gun in his hand after a traffic stop. No one was hurt and the man, a 25-year-old Wickliffe resident who was intoxicated, was taken into custody without any more trouble, according to the police report. Joshua R. Tucker, 25, of Wickliffe, was arrested and charged with felony carrying a concealed weapon, felony improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated and reckless operation. The passenger, a 25-year-old Twinsburg resident, was taken to Twinsburg Police and later release. On Feb. 16 at about 11:20 p.m., a Twinsburg police officer noticed a car driving recklessly in a parking lot on Ravenna Road.  He pulled the …

Concealed Carry: How Many People in Summit County Have a Concealed Carry License?

The answer isn’t easy to find.

Do you know how many of your neighbors have a license to carry a concealed weapon? No? That’s because Ohio keeps those records private.  The state releases a quarterly report of all the concealed carry licenses issued, renewed and suspended by county, but that’s as far as the breakdown goes. Information by city or zip code is not available.  Representatives from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office told Patch via email that the Ohio Revised Code allows journalists to view the list of license holders, but not to copy the information. Good job on keeping those records private Ohio! Let the thugs wonder who has a concealed carry and who does not. Why give them a list of who DOES NOT so that they can target those people knowing that they're less likely to be able to defend themselves.   more ›

Man Arguing With Police Caught With Knife in His Pocket

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction

Twinsburg police arrested a man for refusing to leave the police station lobby on April 4. After his arrest officers found he was carrying a knife in his pocket. Dwayne Sawyer, 35, of Wooster, was charged with drunken and disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing and carrying a concealed weapon after he refused to leave the station when officers told him to. Sawyer -- along with two other men -- was in the lobby, demanding to know why police wouldn't release his friend to him on bond.  According to the police report, officers told Sawyer to pick his friend up at 5 a.m. the next day, asking him leave, when he became "argumentative."
