Despite high scores, Twinsburg was rated "Excellent" by the Ohio Department of Education.
The Twinsburg City School District was rated "Excellent" by the Ohio Department of Education this week. The grade was based off the district's performance over the 2011-12 school year. That rating ended the district's streak of having an "Excellent With Distinction" ranking four years straight. While it lost the "Distinction" tag, school officials still believe the district is performing well. Twinsburg met all 26 performance indicators and scored a 106.2 on the state's performance index, one of the best scores in the state. However, because the district only met the yearly growth rate and did not go above in the category, it can only be rated "Excellent." Some fear that the recent $3.2 million in cuts and changes have already affected the…

The Ohio Board of Education is holding off on the release of the report cards until an investigation is complete, but some info is coming near the end of the month.
The release of Ohio’s school report cards will continue to be delayed while the state auditor investigates whether some districts manipulated attendance data. The state Board of Education on Tuesday decided to release some of the information to the public around the end of September, Ohio Department of Education Associate Director of Communications John Charlton said in an email. The data will not include attendance rates, performance index or overall ratings, and the board has not set a date to release the full report cards at this time. That means Twinsburg Schools parents won’t know the results for some time. The ratings are usually released at the end of August. Last year, Twinsburg Schools earned outstanding ratings. According to …

The official school report cards come out Wednesday, but the district was notified early of its great scores
For the fourth straight year, the Twinsburg City School District has been rated “Excellent With Distinction” on its Ohio Report Card for the 2010-11 school year by the Ohio Department of Education. The report cards are Ohio's system of rating the effectiveness of the state's more than 600 school districts and 3,600 schools. While the school report cards don’t officially come out until Wednesday, the district was notified early of its stellar performance, according to new Superintendent Kathryn Powers, and it couldn’t be happier. “We’re tickled,” Powers said. “That’s just a tremendous showing of the fact that the students of our district excel academically.” While the official statistics haven’t been released, the district did receive an …

The previous comment is right on. No school system can continually get EWD year after year. The system isn't designed as such. Look at the scores of the schools that did get EWD rating and compare with Twinsburgs current results. (Our scores are higher than most in that list). I wish ODE would make EWD clearer.   more ›
