The Akron Area League of Women voters organized a fracking forum Thursday night in Fairlawn.

Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, has been happening in Ohio since the 1950s, according to experts, and it's been a hot topic of conversation for several years. Oil and gas companies are moving closer to home, knocking on doors in Bath Township to gain access to mineral rights; and requested access to drill under a lake in Kent. The Akron Area League of Women Voters held a forum Thursday night in Fairlawn and invited representatives from four big-name corporations to discuss the pros and cons of fracking.
