Someone Walks Off With Teen's Gym Bag at Fitness Center

The information in this report is from the Twinsburg Police.

A 16-year-old Twinsburg teen left his gym bag at the Subway at the Twinsburg Fitness Center for 40 minutes and returned to find it had been taken, according to a Twinsburg Police report. The teen left his wrestling bag at a table at Subway on Jan. 12 at about 4 p.m. The bag contained $180 worth of sporting goods, including shoes, wrestling headgear, kneepads and clothing. Fitness center staff plan to review security video to see if the theft was caught on tape.

New Fitness Center Rules Designed To Prevent Teen Loitering

Later this month, the Twinsburg Fitness Center will begin new rules that limit when children and young teens can be at the center unsupervised.

Parents take note: Later this month, rules are changing regarding how children and younger teens can use the Twinsburg Fitness Center. Twinsburg officials want students to use the fitness center to exercise and participate in the many great activities offered. What they don't want is a bunch of kids and teens loitering with nothing to do. Starting Dec. 21, the fitness center will start using new rules that govern when kids and teens of a certain age can be at the center without supervision, according to Councilman Gary Sorace, who announced the new rules at Monday's council meeting. Children who break the new rules will be asked to leave. Here's the new rules:

Man Cited for Drug Tools During Psychiatric Situation: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

Twinsburg police were called to an apartment at the 9300 block of Ravenna Road for a psychiatric situation on Nov. 22. A woman who was staying with the resident told police the man said he wanted to die and overdosed on medication.  The fire department took him to the Cleveland Clinic Family Health and Surgery Center for treatment. During the incident, however, police found a glass pipe with synthetic marijuana residue in the apartment. The man was cited for drug paraphernalia possession. Drunken Driving and Stolen iPhone: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department.

Twinsburg police had several drunken driving arrests recently. On Nov. 2 police stopped a car for speeding on State Route 82 near Canyon Falls. The driver was charged with drunken driving after a blood-alcohol level of .17. The driver was released on a $500 bond. On Nov. 4 just before 1 a.m. police stopped a car for not using the correct lanes. The driver was arrested for drunken driving and released on a $500 bond. Lock your locker, please On Nov. 1 a woman came to police reporting her son's iPhone was stolen from an unlocked locker at the Twinsburg Fitness Center. The son said there was no one in the area and didn't know who could have taken it.

Twinsburg's Trick-or-Treat Times

Find out when you can dress your kids up to get all the candy.

Halloween is coming up fast and so is trick-or-treat in Twinsburg. The official time for the annual Halloween tradition is Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. The city is also hosting Truck-or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 2-4 p.m. at the Twinsburg Fitness Center. The event costs $1 per person, three years and older. Kids will be able to explore and get their pictures aboard a fire truck, construction rrucks, a RV and a limosine. Children can go trick-or-treating to each truck Put on your best scary, funny or creative costumes ans strut yourself around the track to compete for lots of great prizes.  There will also be a bobbing for pumpkins event at 3:30 p.m. Bring your bathing suit for a new twist on an old favorite.  Space is limited so be …

Fitness Center Helped Raise Money for Diabetes Fundraiser

The Twinsburg Fitness Center took part in the Swim For Diabetes celebration this spring

The Twinsburg Fitness Center was one of many that helped raise $10,911 for the Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland this year. The organization recently celebrated Diabetes Day on the GOODTIME III to recognize the 700 swimmers and volunteers who raised funds to support the fundraiser. “It is a great feeling to know that there is so much support in our local community,” said Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland Interim President & CEO, Tina Milano. “We are thankful for the tremendous support we receive from those who participate in this event year after year.”  The Diabetes Day event on the GOODTIME III celebrated the fundraising efforts of everyone who participated in Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland's 27th annual Swim for Diabetes.  …

Fitness Center Hopes for More Eyes in the Sky

The Twinsburg Fitness Center is hoping to install nine more cameras and a new surveillance system to make the building safer

Changes could be on the way for the Twinsburg Fitness Center that will make its surveillance system better and more efficient. T.L. Thogmartin, fitness center manager, is hoping to add nine new security cameras and a better surveillance system for $24,500. The money would come from the fitness center's 2012 appropriations. “There’s a lot of corners and spots we could really use some additional surveillance on,” Thogmartin said. The fitness center already has 14 cameras in the building but that is not enough to keep an eye on everything, according to Thogmartin. The field house, for example, has only two cameras for a 44,000 square-foot space. He's hoping to add four more cameras to keep better watch over such a large area. “I have the …
