Sports Illustrated Photographer To Speak At Twinsburg Library

Bill Frakes, an award-winning photographer, will give a presentation at the Twinsburg Library on May 23.

Bill Frakes, an award-winning photographer with Sports Illustrated, will give a presentation at the Twinsburg Public Library. Frakes is scheduled to speak 7 p.m. on May 23. The presentation at the library is free, but you must register in advance. Click here to register online. Frakes is based in Florida who has worked in all 50 states and in more than 125 countries for a wide variety of editorial and advertising clients. He has won the Newspaper Photographer of the Year award in the prestigious Pictures of the Year competition. He was a member of the Miami Herald staff that won the Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of Hurricane Andrew. Frakes has a new book called "Sports Photography – From Snapshots to Great Shots." Local Area Artist's Religious Work Displayed at Twinsburg Library

Artist Diane Duncan Bieber’s exhibit “ICONS – The Harmony & Holiness of Sacred Art” is the featured exhibit for January at the Twinsburg Public Library’s art gallery. Hudson artist Diane Duncan Bieber is an accomplished artist who uses her unique artistic talents as an extension of her personal faith. She calls her works a form of religious Iconography.  Iconography is an art form which dates from the earliest days of Christianity.  A sacred person or event is painted according to traditional designs.  The stylized portrayal represents the subject in their glorified state.  Thus, icons are called “windows into heaven.” Diane is careful to point out that an …

The Friends of the Twinsburg Library will hold their December Book sale from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Friends of the Twinsburg Library will hold their December Book Sale on Saturday, December 8, between 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friends of the library members can enter at 9:30 a.m. Some of the December deals include: Free books are of equal or lesser value.

LOOK: Twinsburg Triumphs Over Stow, Cuyahoga Falls in Library Book Battle

The Stow-Munroe Falls Library hosted Cuyahoga Falls and Twinsburg for a Battle of the Books July 30, 2012. Take a look at the contestants and winners!

In five rounds, a team of four readers from the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, Twinsburg Public Library and Cuyahoga Falls Public Library were quizzed on their summer reading comprehension. The books the students were tested on include Stargirl, The Maze Runner, Notes from the Midnight Driver and The Hunger Games.  Final Scores: (Editor's note: Bragging a little here ... TPL Book Review: I Don't Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother by Allison Pearson

Sure it may be a long title, but it's a great read

As a working mother myself, this was a book that I always planned on reading. The only problem is I am sometimes too busy to read. The film version of this book is in theaters and I thought that since I'm a read-the-book-before-seeing-the-movie kind of gal, I thought I better check it out. Not that I will have time to see the film. This is the story of working mom Kate, a financial professional in England (the film version is set in the US), and her struggle to balance a career and family life. It's not working out so well. She fake-bakes pies for her daughter's school function to seem like she has a better handle on her life than she does. She struggles with jealousy of their nanny, as many of her working mother friends do.
