Woman Charged With Hitting Pole and Fleeing While Driving Drunk

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 51-year-old Twinsburg woman was arrested for hitting a light pole and driving off while drunk on Sunday. According to police, officers responded to Glenwood and Ridgewood Drives for a report of a car that struck a light pole and was leaving the scene of the accident. The caller stayed on the phone with police and told them where the car was gong. The car was in a driveway on the 1700 block of Glenwood Drive with visible damage to the right front bumper area. The driver was identified and found to be driving drunk. The woman was arrested and refused to submit to a breath test. She was charged drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control.

Unconscious Man Charged With Drunken Driving, Possession

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 22-year-old Twinsburg man was found unconcious in his car by Twinsburg police on I-480 on May 19. Once officers were able to wake him, they discovered he was driving under the influence and on a suspended license. The man also had an active warrant through the Brooklyn Police Department. Police found a small bag of marijuana and rolling papers in the car. The man was charged with drunken driving, driving under a suspended license and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Man on Motorcycle Charged With Drunken Driving, Child Had No Helmet

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 64-year-old Twinsburg man was stopped on his motorcycle by Twinsburg police on May 17 after an officer saw a young child riding on the gas tank in front of the driver without a helmet at the 8900 block of Hadden Road. After speaking with the driver, the man admitted to drinking. He was charged with child endangerment, drunken driving, expired plates and driving under suspension.

Remembering Officer Josh Miktarian on Peace Officers Memorial Day

Josh Miktarian was shot and killed while on duty in July 2008.

It is National Police Officer week and the Twinsburg Police Department is remembering their friend Officer Joshua Miktarian, who died in the line of duty in July 2008, and all fallen officers.  Wednesday is National Peace Officers Day.  On Monday, at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., those who died in the line of duty in 2013 were remembered. Lt. Bob Gonsiewski and Officer Jeff Hayes represented the Twinsburg Police Department at the event, according to this Facebook post.  Also shared on the police department's Facebook page is a list of events this week to celebrate and memorialize fallen officers during the 28th Annual Police Memorial Commemoration.  Josh's wife, Holly, participated in a Police Unity Tour last …

Residents in the Dark about Missing Solar Lights

Twinsburg Police are trying to return stolen solar lights to the rightful owners, reports our news partner at WEWS Channel 5.

One homeowner on Birchwood Drive woke up April 13 to find a lot more landscape lights on their front lawn.  Turns out, solar lights were taken from several homes in the Birchwood Hills development and placed in the front yard of one house, our news partner at WEWS Channel 5 reports. Twinsburg Police said it appears the culprits took one or two lights from each yard because there are a few sets. Officers are trying to return the lights to the rightful owners and asking residents who notice missing lights to stop by the police station. Find the full WEWS story here.

Cash Checking Business Robbed in Twinsburg

The Advance America on Darrow Road was reportedly robbed Wednesday evening. Police are searching for the suspect.

Twinsburg Police are searching for a man who used a gun to rob a check cashing business on March 6. The robber struck at Advance America on Darrow Road at about 5:58 p.m. March 6. The suspect is described as "a black male in his  late 20's -early 30's, tall and slender, wearing a black hat, a black sweatshirt type jacket, a gray scarf and gray pants." Police Chief Chris Noga said the robber used displayed a handgun during the robbery and that he took off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured. Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect should call Twinsburg Police at 330-425-1234. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. The case remains under investigation.

Police Chief Hits 16-Year Anniversary with Twinsburg Department

Chief Chris Noga left a heart-felt message on the Twinsburg Police Department Facebook page on the anniversary of his employment in the city.

When Police Chief Chris Noga accepted his job with the Twinsburg force on March 3, 1997, he said he considered it a "great step forward for me in my law enforcement career." Sixteen years later, Noga said he "ended up with so much more." The chief posted this message on the Twinsburg Police Department Facebook page: "Yesterday [March 3, 2013] was the 16th anniversary of my employment with the city of Twinsburg. When I was offered a position as a police officer for this city on March 3, 1997, I readily accepted because I felt it was a great step forward for me in my law enforcement career — an opportunity to serve as a police officer in a growing suburb. Be carefeul, she bites-  Bath Township Police got a few calls on Nov. 24 about a driver who was all over the road on I-77 north. Officers caught up with Michelle Mahnen, 39, of Wadsworth, in the 77 north rest area. She was attempting to get back on the highway.
