Sports Illustrated Photographer Speaking at Library Thursday

Bill Frakes, an award-winning photographer, will give a presentation at the Twinsburg Library on May 23.

Bill Frakes, an award-winning photographer with Sports Illustrated, will give a presentation at the Twinsburg Public Library. Frakes is scheduled to speak 7 p.m. on May 23. The presentation at the library is free, but you must register in advance. Click here to register online. Frakes is based in Florida who has worked in all 50 states and in more than 125 countries for a wide variety of editorial and advertising clients. He has won the Newspaper Photographer of the Year award in the prestigious Pictures of the Year competition. He was a member of the Miami Herald staff that won the Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of Hurricane Andrew. Frakes has a new book called "Sports Photography – From Snapshots to Great Shots." County Summer Youth Employment Registration in Twinsburg Thursday

Summit County's Summer Youth Employment Program is accepting registration for youths 16-24 interested in summer jobs.

The County of Summit Executive Russell M. Pry Facebook page announced that it is hiring youths in Twinsburg for summer jobs.  See the attached .pdf for details. A registration is planned at the Twinsburg Public Library from 3 to 6 p.m. May 15, 2013.

Relay Kicks Off Early This Year

Twinsburg/Nordonia Relay for Life is hosting an open house at the Twinsburg Public Library on Dec. 5.

Hope big. Think big. Relay big. That’s what 2013 Twinsburg/Nordonia Relay for Life co-chairs Beth Noga and Jennie Dawes want local residents to do to help fight back against cancer. The Relay for Life season kicks off officially next Wednesday, Dec. 5 with an open house at the Twinsburg Public Library from 7 to 8 p.m. Visitors can learn about teams and sign up, find out how survivors can participate, and discover special activities and fundraising ideas to make Relay for Life fun and successful. The 2013 Relay For Life takes place June 7-8, 2013 at Twinsburg Tiger Stadium. Dominique Moceanu Talks Life, Olympics to Twinsburg Crowd

The gold medalist was promoting her new memoir "Off Balance" at the Twinsburg Public Library.

Gold-medalist Dominique Moceanu visited the Twinsburg Public Library Thursday, speaking to a full house about her new book and fielding questions. Her new book, Off Balance, goes into her life as a gymnast and all of her experiences through life, including major highs and lows. "I've been wanting to share my life story for many years," Moceanu said, adding that she finds healing in sharing her story with others. Moceanu was a member of the 1996 U.S. Women's Gymnastics team which one the gold medal in Atlanta, GA. The team was dubbed "The Magnificent Seven." Moceanu was recognized as the youngest U.S. National Champion in gymnastics history and has authored the popular children's series Go For The Gold. Rather than retelling her story, she …
